Coleen Scott is a Costume Designer and Stylist with an MFA in Costume Design from Boston University, where she received the Kahn award upon graduation. She has worked for nearly 20 years in theater, opera, film, and television. After finishing her Graduate Internship with Academy Award winning costume designer Ann Roth, Coleen worked in television and film with designers Stephanie Maslansky and Tina Nigro. She works extensively with her creative partner, photographer, Ben Trivett doing styling, makeup and set decoration for editorial and fine art portrait photography. Coleen taught Costume Production and Makeup for Stage and Studio at Saint Ann's School in Brooklyn, NY from 2005-2018. She is the author of The Pastie Project, a book that documents burlesque costume history focused on the pastie. Her current project is The Costumes of Burlesque, a scholarly monograph on burlesque costume history from 1866-2018 for Routledge/Taylor and Francis (publication date June 2019). Coleen received two SU CASA grants through the Brooklyn Arts Council for her volunteer work with seniors in Brooklyn, teaching quilting arts in 2016 and 2017. A few days a week Coleen can be found at Mood Fabrics in Los Angeles working as a fabric expert and display designer, but primarily she is a freelance costume designer and stylist living in Santa Monica, California.
